
Abby Turnpaugh from Edgewood, Kentucky is a first year softball player at Manhattan University in New York. She attended Notre Dame Academy in Park Hills, Kentucky where she registered a 4.6 GPA and set the school record for career strikeouts and wins. She also became the first player in Notre Dame Academy softball history to achieve All-State Honors twice. Growing up, Abby played a wide range of sports including soccer, swimming, basketball, volleyball, and softball. Her softball career started in T-ball, which turned into coach pitch, then machine pitch. After years of waiting and playing with the boys, she finally was able to join a softball teams at 8 years old. Abby not only played softball at a high level through high school, she also was a very talented volleyball player, but lacked the size to go to a Division 1 school, and that's when her focus shifted to softball. She remembers getting extra encouragement from Chris Schreiber, her high school softball coach who told her: “Abby, I don’t know how good you are at volleyball, but I know you will be better at softball." From that moment on, she put all her effort into being the best softball player she could be, and it has paid off. She earned the opportunity to attend Manhattan University. She plans to major in Biology on a pre-Med track. Abby has several hobbies including pickleball and talking about current events. She is passionate about finding a cure for cancer. She has signed with Pliable for NIL representation and athlete branding services.
