Biography
Hey there! I'm Cole Smith, a senior at Jacksonville State University where I play baseball and major in finance. You might know me from my Instagram (@Coleray16), where I document my love for the game and all the hard work behind it. Last season, I swung my way to a .333 batting average, but that's just one piece of the puzzle. On the field, I'm all about bringing the hustle, leading by example, and being a true team player. My teammates know they can count on me for an honest play and a quiet confidence that lifts everyone up. But baseball isn't my only passion. My days are fueled by a double play of crushing pitches and crunching numbers. Finance is my other hustle, and I pour the same dedication into my studies as I do into every swing. PRIOR TO JSU: Transferred to the Gamecocks after two seasons in the JUCO ranks at South Georgia College in Douglas, Georgia…played in 44 games as a freshman in 2021 and saw action in 32 games in 2022 for SGSC…accumulated 65 at bats as a sophomore with 14 hits, including six doubles…delivered seven runs and scored 14 runs…reached base 10 times via base on balls and swiped fives bags in 2022…posted 27 hits and drove in 15 runs as a freshman…had an on-base percentage of .318 in 2021 and recorded nine stolen bases HIGH SCHOOL: Ranked as one of the top shortstops coming out of the state of Georgia by Perfect Game…named to the 2020 PG Preseason All-American and All-Region Teams…coached by Ryan Moity at NGHS…helped the program to the semifinals of the 2019 Class AAAAAAA.
