Biography

My name is Maddie Johnson, and I am a fifth-year lacrosse goalie at the University of Detroit Mercy! I have been a division 1 athlete for all five years of my collegiate career. I graduated with a Bachelor's in Psychology and a minor in Leadership. I am currently pursuing a Master's in Industrial-Organizational Psychology! While on the lacrosse team I have also been heavily involved in community outreach programs in the local area of Metro-Detroit.

Career Highlights:

2021 • Saw time in all 10 contests for the Titans, making two starts in net. • Made 51 total saves and recorded an 38.3% save percentage, tying for the team-lead with 23 ground balls. • Started the first two games of the season, including making seven saves against Youngstown State (3/13). • Earned the victory, making 10 saves in the final 37 minutes of a road overtime victory at Akron (3/17). • Tied for the team lead and ranked in a tie-for-ninth in the MAC in ground balls per game (2.3). • Tallied at least five saves in six of 10 games during the season. • Received Women's Lacrosse Academic All-MAC Team honors. • Earned Detroit Mercy Athletic Director Honor Roll accolades (3.0 GPA+). 2020 • Played in seven games, starting six in net for the Titans. • Made 34 saves and had a save percentage of 29.1% during the season, adding nine ground balls and four caused turnovers. • Recorded six saves in season opener at #3-Northwestern (2/7) and six stops against Arizona State (2/14). • Tallied a season-high 13 saves in an 11-8 come-from-behind road victory at Winthrop (3/5). • Earned Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll laurels (3.0 GPA+). • Earned Detroit Mercy Athletic Director's Honor Roll accolades (3.0 GPA+). 2019 • Saw time in seven games for the Titans. • Posted a 6.84 goals against average and 31.0% save percentage, while recording nine saves in 175 minutes. • Made season debut at Cincinnati (2/24), playing 41 minutes and making four saves. • Part of first shutout in school history, seeing final 50:50 in net and turning away one shot on goal in 23-0 win over Howard (4/5). • Collected two saves in win over Wofford (4/14) and one more save against #8-Michigan (4/23), adding two ground balls and one caused turnovers against the Wolverines. • Earned Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll laurels (3.0 GPA+). 2018 • Made three appearances in net during freshman season for the Titans. • Posted 41.7 save percentage and 9.57 goals against average, totaling 10 saves and four ground balls in 87 minutes across her three games. • Earned collegiate debut in 16-6 win at Butler (3/3), turning away two shots. • Played 55 minutes, posting 54.5 save percentage with six saves against Delaware State (4/6). High School • A 2017 graduate of Salem (Mich.) High School. • Lettered all four years at goalkeeper in lacrosse for the Rocks. • School record holder in save percentage in all three seasons. • Named All-State Honorable Mention in 2016 as a junior. • A two-time team captain. • Selected 2016 Salem Best Defensive Player and 2016 KLAA All-Conference. • Part of 2016 Team Academic All-State. • Named 2015 KLAA Honorable Mention. • Earned conference title as a freshman in 2014. • Played club lacrosse with Detroit Coyote for four years. • Part of Student Congress, Link Crew and SOSA Leadership Group in high school. Personal • Daughter of Kristen & Bobby Johnson. • Has one sister, Livvie. • Born in Akron, Ohio. • Father, Bobby, played football at Miami (Ohio) and mother, Kristen, played softball at Ashland. • Major is Psychology.
