Biography

Sofia Herrera is a high-performance lacrosse midfielder from Baltimore, Maryland, currently competing at the Division I level for the University of Maryland. A powerful force between the lines, she’s known for her speed, grit, and two-way dominance on the field. Sofia was a 4-year varsity player and team captain at St. Paul’s School for Girls, where she earned First Team All-Metro honors by The Baltimore Sun, was named Mid-Atlantic All-Region by USA Lacrosse, and selected to the New Balance All-American Senior Game. She is a two-time IAAM Champion and was recently honored as SPSG’s Athlete of the Year. Internationally, Sofia proudly represents the Puerto Rico Women’s Senior National Team and competed with the U20 squad in Hong Kong, helping the team to a 5th place finish at the 2024 World Championships. She is rostered to play in the 2025 PALA Qualifiers, with her sights set on the 2026 World Lacrosse Championships in Tokyo and the 2028 Olympics, where lacrosse will debut as an Olympic sport. Off the field, Sofia is deeply passionate about empowering women in sport, promoting diversity in lacrosse, and advocating for performance-driven wellness and recovery.
